The film Innocence of Muslims, which sparked anti-American protests throughout the Islamic world last week, bears all the trademarks of an Illuminati Mossad false flag operation designed to both ignite WW III and to sink President Obama’s re-election.

“Bailing out Barack”: BERNANKE’S NEW “BAIL-OUT” FRAUD

Today, it was The New York Times’ Binyamin Appelbaum’s turn to bellow into Ben Bernanke’s “bail out” barrel. Technically, the mission, this time, is to “pump up” President Barack Obama’s lurch toward what appears to be his hoped-for “bail-out” boost for his reelection-campaign. This time, the newly launched “Bernanke bail-out” coincides virtually to the date of the announcement of Europe’s biggest hyper-inflationary gamble yet, this time unleashed by Germany’s capitulation to the new round of implicitly hyperinflationary, “Euro” bail-out bubbles. Shades of the closing stage of Weimar Germany 1923.

Were this newly announced Obama policy actually to be unleashed, the evil Satan himself might quickly find himself trapped suddenly in a particular kind of hyper-inflationary Hell. Such is the increasingly probable situation which President Obama and his colleagues have created for themselves.

There is only one measure which could prevent this presently onrushing breakdown from happening now: put President Franklin Roosevelt’s “Glass-Steagall” law into operation immediately, and in Europe as in the U.S.A. Therefore, I refer your immediate attention to the opening, brief paragraphs of today’s feature in the “Business Day” feature of the Times, by Binyamin Appelbaum. It is necessary to absorb the specific flavor from Appelbaum’s following set of opening paragraphs.

“In September 1992, the Federal Reserve culminated a long-running effort to stimulate the sluggish economy by cutting its bench-mark interest rate to 3 percent, the lowest level it had reached in almost three decades

“The cut was avidly sought by the administration of President George H. W. Bush ... Years later Mr. Bush told an interviewer that the Fed’s Chairman, had cost him a second term by failing to act more quickly and more forcefully.

“'I reappointed him and he disappointed me,' Mr. Bush said.

“On Thursday, the Federal Reserve is poised to announce that it will once again seek to stimulate the economy in the middle of a presidential election season...”

‘Nuff said from the Times’ Mr. Appelbaum, who has actually missed the crucial issue of this matter. The result of allowing such a policy will be an immediate, sudden, and extremely violent, trans-Atlantic hyperinflation, combined with hyper-accelerating physical-economic collapse. In fact, the only practicable remedy for the immediate situation would be the sudden institution of the Glass-Steagall reform, if it were instituted in the immediate period before the currently scheduled U.S. Presidential election.

The intention for the proposed, hyperinflationary measure comes chiefly from President Obama and his campaign. What they, in particular, have demanded, is a hyper-inflation which the relevant circles must desperately hope would not occur much before the presently onrushing Presidential election: a clear fraud. This development, by itself, would have immediately deadly effect effects throughout the economy of the planet, especially the combined effect on the trans-Atlantic regions: the collapse of North America and western Europe would be immediate. There would be, suddenly, no functional economy to revive.

Only the willful termination of the Obama and kindred “bail-out” itself, could save the economies at this present juncture.

I have prescribed three leading measures of sudden reform as indispensable measures taken to prevent a general breakdown of the U.S.A. economy itself:
Immediate institution of Glass-Steagall.
Immediate institution of national banking.
Federal funding of major engineering projects of mass employment, including NAWAPA and engineering projects with high energy-flux-density characteristics.

Such immediate reforms echoing the policies of President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and a bit more, are immediately feasible, and now almost desperately urgent. The issue is one of national survival in places including the United States and Europe at this time.

The process of stealing Iraq’s oil began when the Illuminati bankers baited Saddam Hussein into invading Iran. While Saddam was preoccupied with the Iranians, the puppet Kuwaiti government busied itself slowly moving its long-disputed border with Iraq northward into the area containing the massive Rumaila oilfield, which the Four Horsemen now knew to be one of the richest in the world.

There the Kuwaitis established military installations, farms and oil facilities. The expansion added 900 square miles to Kuwait and gave them control over the southern portion of Rumaila, which contains the largest portion of its estimated 30 billion barrels of oil. Iraq’s oil terminal at Fao was destroyed during the Iran/Iraq War, crippling Iraqi National Oil Company (INOC) production at North Rumaila. Iraq wanted to lease the islands of Warbah and Bubiyan from Kuwait to serve as deep sea ports that could replace Fao. The Kuwaitis refused.

In 1981 the Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) bought Sante Fe Drilling Corporation and its high-tech engineering subsidiary Braun. Sante Fe was a known CIA front. Braun had devised a new slant drilling technique. Throughout the 1980’s KOC used this technology to drill horizontally into the Rumaila oilfield, 90% of which fell within Iraqi territory. [1] The Iraqis said Kuwait stole $10 billion worth of crude oil.

Fukushima: A Nuclear War without a War The Unspoken Crisis of Worldwide Nuclear Radiation INTRODUCTION The World is at a critical crossroads. The Fukushima disaster in Japan has brought to the forefront the dangers of Worldwide nuclear radiation. The crisis in Japan has been described as "a nuclear war without a war". In the words of renowned novelist Haruki Murakami: "This time no one dropped a bomb on us ... We set the stage, we committed the crime with our own hands, we are destroying our own lands, and we are destroying our own lives." Nuclear radiation --which threatens life on planet earth-- is not front page news in comparison to the most insignificant issues of public concern, including the local level crime scene or the tabloid gossip reports on Hollywood celebrities.  While the long-term repercussions of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear disaster are yet to be fully assessed, they are far more serious than those pertaining to the 1986 Chernobyl disaster in the Ukraine, which resulted in almost one million deaths (New Book Concludes - Chernobyl death toll: 985,000, mostly from cancer Global Research, September 10, 2010, See also Matthew Penney and Mark Selden  The Severity of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Disaster: Comparing Chernobyl and Fukushima, Global Research, May 25, 2011)  Moreover, while all eyes were riveted on the Fukushima Daiichi plant, news coverage both in Japan and internationally failed to fully acknowledge the impacts of a second catastrophe at TEPCO's (Tokyo Electric Power Co  Inc) Fukushima Daini nuclear power plant. The shaky political consensus both in Japan, the U.S. and Western Europe is that the crisis at Fukushima has been contained. The realties, however, are otherwise. Fukushima 3 was leaking unconfirmed amounts of plutonium. According to Dr. Helen Caldicott, "one millionth of a gram of plutonium, if inhaled can cause cancer".   An opinion poll in May 2011 confirmed that more than 80 per cent of the Japanese population do not believe the government's information regarding the nuclear crisis. (quoted in Sherwood Ross, Fukushima: Japan's Second Nuclear Disaster, Global Research, November 10, 2011) The Impacts in Japan The Japanese government has been obliged to acknowledge that "the severity rating of its nuclear crisis ... matches that of the 1986 Chernobyl disaster". In a bitter irony, however, this tacit admission by the Japanese authorities has proven to been part of  the cover-up of a significantly larger catastrophe, resulting in a process of global nuclear radiation and contamination: "While Chernobyl was an enormous unprecedented disaster, it only occurred at one reactor and rapidly melted down. Once cooled, it was able to be covered with a concrete sarcophagus that was constructed with 100,000 workers. There are a staggering 4400 tons of nuclear fuel rods at Fukushima, which greatly dwarfs the total size of radiation sources at Chernobyl." ( Extremely High Radiation Levels in Japan: University Researchers Challenge Official Data, Global Research, April 11, 2011) Fukushima in the wake of the Tsunami, March 2011 Worldwide Contamination The dumping of highly radioactive water into the Pacific Ocean constitutes a potential trigger to a process of global radioactive contamination. Radioactive elements have not only been detected in the food chain in Japan, radioactive rain water has been recorded in California: "Hazardous radioactive elements being released in the sea and air around Fukushima accumulate at each step of various food chains (for example, into algae, crustaceans, small fish, bigger fish, then humans; or soil, grass, cow's meat and milk, then humans). Entering the body, these elements - called internal emitters - migrate to specific organs such as the thyroid, liver, bone, and brain, continuously irradiating small volumes of cells with high doses of alpha, beta and/or gamma radiation, and over many years often induce cancer". (Helen Caldicott, Fukushima: Nuclear Apologists Play Shoot the Messenger on Radiation, The Age,  April 26, 2011) While the spread of radiation to the West Coast of North America was casually acknowledged, the early press reports (AP and Reuters) "quoting diplomatic sources" stated that only "tiny amounts of radioactive particles have arrived in California but do not pose a threat to human health." "According to the news agencies, the unnamed sources have access to data from a network of measuring stations run by the United Nations’ Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Organization. ...  ... Greg Jaczko, chair of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, told White House reporters on Thursday (March 17) that his experts “don’t see any concern from radiation levels that could be harmful here in the United States or any of the U.S. territories”. The spread of radiation. March 2011 Public Health Disaster. Economic Impacts What prevails is a well organized camouflage. The public health disaster in Japan, the contamination of water, agricultural land and the food chain, not to mention the broader economic and social implications, have neither been fully acknowledged nor addressed in a comprehensive and meaningful fashion by the Japanese authorities.   Japan as a nation state has been destroyed. Its landmass and territorial waters are contaminated. Part of the country is uninhabitable. High levels of radiation have been recorded in the Tokyo metropolitan area, which has a population of  39 million (2010) (more than the population of Canada, circa 34 million (2010)) There are indications that the food chain is contaminated throughout Japan: Radioactive cesium exceeding the legal limit was detected in tea made in a factory in Shizuoka City, more than 300 kilometers away from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant. Shizuoka Prefecture is one of the most famous tea producing areas in Japan. A tea distributor in Tokyo reported to the prefecture that it detected high levels of radioactivity in the tea shipped from the city. The prefecture ordered the factory to refrain from shipping out the product. After the accident at the Fukushima nuclear power plant, radioactive contamination of tea leaves and processed tea has been found over a wide area around Tokyo. Japan is no longer a leading industrial power. The country's exports have plummeted. The Tokyo government has announced its first trade deficit since 1980. While the business media has narrowly centered on the impacts of power outages and energy shortages on the pace of productive activity, the broader issue pertaining to the outright radioactive contamination of the country's infrastructure and industrial base is a "scientific taboo" (i.e the radiation of industrial plants, machinery and equipment, buildings, roads, etc). A report released in January 2012 points to the nuclear contamination of building materials used in the construction industry, in cluding roads and residential buildings throughout Japan.(See  FUKUSHIMA: Radioactive Houses and Roads in Japan. Radioactive Building Materials Sold to over 200 Construction Companies, January 2012) A "coverup report" by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (May 2011), entitled "Economic Impact of the Great East Japan Earthquake and Current Status of Recovery"  presents "Economic Recovery" as a fait accompli. It also brushes aside the issue of radiation. The impacts of nuclear radiation on the work force and the country's industrial base are not mentioned. The report states that the distance between Tokyo -Fukushima Dai-ichi  is of the order of 230 km (about 144 miles) and that the levels of radiation in Tokyo are lower than in Hong Kong and New York City.(Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, Impact of the Great East Japan Earthquake and Current Status of Recovery, p.15). This statement is made without corroborating evidence and in overt contradiction with independent radiation readings in Tokyo (se map below). In recent developments, Sohgo Security Services Co. is launching a lucrative "radiation measurement service targeting households in Tokyo and four surrounding prefectures". "A map of citizens' measured radiation levels shows radioactivity is distributed in a complex pattern reflecting the mountainous terrain and the shifting winds across a broad area of Japan north of Tokyo which is in the center of the of bottom of the map." "Radiation limits begin to be exceeded at just above 0.1 microsieverts/ hour blue. Red is about fifty times the civilian radiation limit at 5.0 microsieverts/hour. Because children are much more sensitive than adults, these results are a great concern for parents of young children in potentially affected areas. SOURCE: Science Magazine The fundamental question is whether the vast array of industrial goods and components "Made in Japan" -- including hi tech components, machinery, electronics, motor vehicles, etc -- and exported Worldwide are contaminated? Were this to be the case, the entire East and Southeast Asian industrial base --which depends heavily on Japanese components and industrial technology-- would be affected. The potential impacts on international trade would be farreaching. In this regard, in January, Russian officials confiscated irradiated Japanese automobiles and autoparts in the port of Vladivostok for sale in the Russian Federation. Needless to say, incidents of this nature in a global competitive environment, could lead to the demise of the Japanese automobile industry which is already in crisis. While most of the automotive industry is in central Japan, Nissan's engine factory in Iwaki city is 42 km from the Fukushima Daiichi plant. Is the Nissan work force affected? Is the engine plant contaminated? The plant is within about 10 to 20 km of the government's "evacuation zone" from which some 200,000 people were evacuated (see map below). Nuclear Energy and Nuclear War The crisis in Japan has also brought into the open the unspoken relationship between nuclear energy and nuclear war. Nuclear energy is not a civilian economic activity. It is an appendage of the nuclear weapons industry which is controlled by the so-called defense contractors. The powerful corporate interests behind nuclear energy and nuclear weapons overlap. In Japan at the height of the disaster, "the nuclear industry and government agencies [were] scrambling to prevent the discovery of atomic-bomb research facilities hidden inside Japan's civilian nuclear power plants".1  (See Yoichi Shimatsu, Secret Weapons Program Inside Fukushima Nuclear Plant? Global Research,  April 12, 2011) It should be noted that the complacency of both the media and the governments to the hazards of nuclear radiation pertains to the nuclear energy industry as well as to to use of nuclear weapons. In both cases, the devastating health impacts of nuclear radiation are casually denied. Tactical nuclear weapons with an explosive capacity of up to six times a Hiroshima bomb are labelled by the Pentagon as "safe for the surrounding civilian population". No concern has been expressed at the political level as to the likely consequences of a US-NATO-Israel attack on Iran, using "safe for civilians" tactical nuclear weapons against a non-nuclear state. Such an action would result in "the unthinkable": a nuclear holocaust over a large part of the Middle East and Central Asia. A nuclear nightmare, however, would occur even if nuclear weapons were not used. The bombing of Iran's nuclear facilities using conventional weapons would contribute to unleashing another Fukushima type disaster with extensive radioactive fallout. “The new White House Executive Order of March 16, 2012, the so called ‘National Defense Resources Preparedness Order,’ is a clear blueprint for total government control over the civilian economy, under the guise of ‘national defense,’” warns Maj. Gen. Albert “Bert” N. Stubblebine III, former commanding general of the U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command.

The White House has set in motion the regulatory basis for an American version of Lenin’s “War Communism” whereby the entire civilian economy is militarized, says distinguished doctor of law Ralph Fucetola.

Fucetola analyzed this executive order (EO), which gives the president the power to take over the means of production. It annuls private contracts and commandeers all the resources of all the people. This EO, if allowed to stand, sets the legal basis for total government control over: “food, energy, health, civil transportation, water and all other materials, services and facilities.”

Dissecting the lengthy diktat, the president and his secretaries have the authority to seize all transportation, energy and infrastructure inside the United States. The federal government would not only control all necessities—but the lives of 99% of Americans. The EO claims the president even has the power to forcibly draft American citizens into the military. The EO also contains language on harnessing American citizens to fulfill “labor requirements” for “the purposes of national defense.”

Everything means everything, including:

“Food resources” means all commodities and products, (simple, mixed, or compound), or complements to such commodities or products, that are capable of being ingested by either human beings or animals, irrespective of other uses to which such commodities or products may be put, at all stages of processing from the raw commodity to the products thereof in vendible form for human or animal consumption. “Food resources” also means potable water packaged in commercially marketable containers, all starches, sugars, vegetable and animal or marine fats and oils, seed, cotton, hemp and flax fiber. . . . “Water resources” means all usable water, from all sources.

The EO does not require “national emergencies” or times of war. This EO can be invoked for confiscation and control by presidential whim “when needed to meet defense requirements during peacetime, graduated mobilization and national emergency.”

There is no evidence that any of the GOP candidates—other than Ron Paul—has the guts to stand against this treason.

The fact that the world is being restructured from decentralized diversity to collectivized hierarchy by an authoritarian regime cloaked in green trappings can hardly be disputed.

The final push toward the next and perhaps final phase may be announced this June at the 2012 U.N. Conference on Sustainable Development in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

A Scientific American editorial by Gary Stix highlights a policy article written by several dozen scientists that appeared online March 15 in the journal Science.

The conclusions reached by the scientists, as well as the editorial from a staff member of Scientific American are incredibly unscientific and fly in the face of the many thousands of independent scientists and researchers who have refuted the theory of man-made global warming.  Regardless, this small group pushes ahead with their suggestions that the only way to combat such a global catastrophe is of course to solve it through global government.  And not just any global government, but one that Scientific American suggests should be "heavy-handed (in its) transnational enforcement powers."

The policy paper entitled, "Navigating the Anthropocene: Improving Earth System Governance" is one of the most blatantly authoritarian among the incrementally more open policy papers that we are witnessing, as global governance continues on its runaway path in the name of saving humanity from itself.
Opening with a summary, the conclusions and solutions are clear:

Science assessments indicate that human activities are moving several of Earth's sub-systems outside the range of natural variability typical for the previous 500,000 years (1, 2). Human societies must now change course and steer away from critical tipping points in the Earth system that might lead to rapid and irreversible change (3). This requires fundamental reorientation and restructuring of national and international institutions toward more effective Earth system governance and planetary stewardship. (Source)

The full text of the article is available for a fee which we paid for access, and we can tell you that it is centered around the "Building Blocks" that form the foundation for the edifice of a one-world government.  These building blocks have been repeated throughout globalist literature, so this is nothing necessarily new, but the fact that they fall within the context of at best a hotly disputed assertion that humans are to blame for catastrophically altering their environment -- namely through climate change -- indicates that their agenda must move forward, factually based or not. Integrating 'Sustainable Development' to the local level (Agenda 21) -- Once such a council is established, it will efficiently and heavy-handedly dictate down the pyramid of global control until it reaches each and every community.  This is the stated objective of Agenda 21 as a way to transform the 21st century by centralizing power and eradicating individual freedom.  When this goal is understood, then it becomes quite clear that when we see similar rules put in place for disparate nations in the areas of food, banking, and the eradication of civil liberties, it is part of this coordinated plan toward planetary governance. Local communities become viewed merely as outposts for resistance and must be made to comply with the dictates of the pyramid's capstone.

Bringing emerging technologies under global control -- Interestingly,geo-engineering is openly mentioned here, despite it being still considered a fringe conspiracy theory under the name of Chemtrails.  Nanotechnology, biotechnology, and other scientific endeavors must also be brought under global control by a worldwide council that presumably will lay claim to this intellectual capital and resource generation.  There is discussion about a framework of conventions to theoretically ensure that all participants adhere to an agreed-upon basis for research and implementation.

But has this ever really worked before?  We have a convention against the use of biological warfare; a convention against the use of most non-lethal weapons, a convention against torture, etc., and yet our world is seeing only a ramping-up these activities.  The conventions merely provide a framework for enabling the control and allocation of whatever it is that they are designed to address -- rarely are they a method to prevent and deter abuse.

The creation of a global legal and economic framework -- This is one of the most insidious, as it literally encourages local laws and economic policies to be rewritten with the goal of furthering a global matrix of interconnected bureaucracies that all but eradicate the ability of local communities (or countries) to opt-out of this dictatorial mission.  The paper uses the word "discrimination" in a most accurate way to promote only green initiatives.  There are no specifics given, but we only need to look at the "green" and "alternative" businesses that have been promoted (and invested in) by government to see that most have been an abject failure, leading to the bankruptcy of several in near-record time.  It is much too early for the proposal of the largest government the world has ever known to lay claim as being experts in resource management and alternative energy.  If this is put into effect on a global scale based on the small-scale examples we have seen so far, we will witness the utter implosion of the global economy, and a mass reduction in the standard of living for the average person, as well as the inability for entrepreneurs to circumvent such a system if it should fail. Consensus-based decision making becomes majority rule -- This is yet another very dangerous concept, as is the antithesis to a functioning republic.  The paper highlights the "efficiency in decision-making" that is the hallmark of majority-based rule, versus that of a consensus.  And there is a reason for this -- because every individual has an innate right to participate in the very decisions which will most impact their life.  The decision for global governance and sweeping policy changes right down to the local level are the last decisions that should be made hastily.  Just one example was the mass agreement to the validity of man-made global warming, which resulted in a carbon credits market, and other transformative policies, only to be swayed the other direction when evidence of a cover-up known as Climategate revealed a distorted picture of the true scientific data, as well as the hidden political and economic agendas.  A free society is indeed a transparent one, but that will never flourish under a panel of experts reporting to select councils and governed by regents, because the independent researcher has no place in such a system. 

Legitimacy and accountability of stronger intergovernmental institutions -- Here they admit that global governance removes local sovereignty, and try to work their way around the issue by proposing a representative system, no doubt to give the illusion that the people have a say in what gets decided. "Global governance through UN-type institutions tends to give a larger role to international and domestic bureaucracies, at the cost of national parliaments and the direct involvement of citizens." They claim that accountability and decision-making will be strengthened "through special rights enshrined in agreements or stronger participation in councils that govern resources and in commissions that hear complaints."  They also call for more transparency as an "effective accountability mechanism".  Yet, the entire report is based on cherry-picked and unproven science. Finally, this section also discusses accounting for "imbalances in the strength" among different countries, probably to make sure the right countries (the G20) actually have the power, much like the U.N. Security Council.

The creation of global financial instruments -- I think we all have learned enough about the inherent toxicity of "financial instruments" such as derivatives and the carbon market scam.  The paper alludes to an "emissions market" which will be employed to ensure that poorer countries receive financial support through a system of "equity and fairness."  When has this happened even once within any initiative promoted by globalist interests?  The World Trade Organization has been an abject failure; the World Health Organization has been a disaster; and the IMF has been perhaps the most blatantly corrupt and predatory of them all.  These systems do nothing to empower and support the poor; they are there to create the very terms and compliance that is required to co-opt their resources and productivity and loot sovereign nations. To enshrine these building blocks of world governance, it is proposed that there needs to be a "constitutional moment" in the reordering of world politics, similar to what followed WWII.  It is disingenuously implied that the international norms set for human rights serve as an example for a similarly standardized approach to counter the destruction of the environment. 

It is admitted that the birthplace of Agenda 21, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (1992), will once again see a "test of politcal will" to implement drastic changes.  Those changes will continue to radically build upon the reduction in national sovereignty that we have witnessed across the board.  They are changes which will no doubt continue to erode individual freedom and contribute to the massive financial hardship we are being subjected to through authoritarian, centralized rule by a fascistic cabal of bankers and politicians that collude to keep humanity from realizing its true potential.

There must be mass outrage to such a degree that even their plan for "majority rule" cannot succeed.  A rising tide of protest and civil disobedience can easily smash each one of the building blocks above.  The Achilles Heel of their plan is resistance to any initiative that would remove the power of local communities to support and sustain themselves, and instead force sworn fealty to a group of overlords who admit to their desire to impose a scientific dictatorship to be ruled by councils of experts.  It has been these so-called experts, at the behest of governments throughout history, who have led to nothing short of a mass murder machine.  We need to keep that in mind as they attempt to guilt trip us into compliance with their "humanitarian" agenda.

Vermont Senate Passes Bill Ending Philosophical Exemptions from School Vaccination Requirements

The Vermont Senate recently passed a bill, which is now on its way to the state House, which, if signed into law, would end the ability for parents to avoid getting their children vaccinated based on philosophical grounds.

This means that children will not be able to go to school if their parents refuse the vaccines, as they can no longer be exempt from the requirement based on the parent’s philosophical opposition.
No matter how you feel about vaccines, I hope that you recognize and respect the right of individuals to make the ultimate decision when it comes to their own health and the health of their children which is becoming increasingly stripped away from the people of the United States.
In a police state like the United States where you can be held indefinitely without charge or trial or deemed a possible terrorist for just about everything, this might seem like a relatively small issue to some. I do not think that the right to choose what goes into our bodies and the bodies of our children is at all a small matter as it can only lead to more government intervention in our lives which is the last thing the American people need.
While a religious exemption would supposedly remain in place, this does not mean much given that both senators and Vermont Health Department officials have agreed that there are no standards in Vermont law which define religious belief.
One would assume that Christian Scientists would be exempt from this law due to their well-known beliefs, but could an anti-vaccine campaigner claim that they have a religious belief which prevents them from allowing their children to be vaccinated under this law? That much is unclear at this point.
Some think that no such explicit definition should be in law at all such as the founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel, Mathew Staver.
Liberty Counsel is an international non-profit organization which focuses on litigation and policy promotion aimed at advancing religious freedom, and according to their website, “the sanctity of life, and the family” with offices in multiple states and Israel.
“It can be a slippery slope to try to determine whether a person’s religious belief is valid or not,” Staver said.
“It puts the courts or the government in the role of deciding what is considered orthodox or not orthodox, approved or not approved, as it relates to religious belief,” he added, according to the Associated Press.
I think his point is quite strong, as government has absolutely no right to meddle in the private religious lives of Americans, especially the ability to say, “This religious belief is okay and this one is not.”
The manager for the Vermont Department of Health’s immunization program, Christine Finley, said that parents just need to sign a form requesting a religious exemption to get one.
“Nothing would stop you if you wanted to exempt your children on religious grounds,” she claimed.
However, if someone does not have a “religious” objection and instead one based on health concerns, they might have to lie in filling out such a form.
Even drawing a line between what a religious vs. philosophical objection really is would be difficult. Do you have to meet regularly and have rituals in order for it to transform from a mere philosophical position to a religious belief?
This bill seems to be placing religious beliefs on a different playing field than other positions which are not based on religious dogma. I find this intellectual repugnant as I do not see any difference between the beliefs of, say, a nihilist and a Catholic in terms of the right of the individual to live their life according to such beliefs.
If a philosophy is opposed to vaccinations, individuals who identify with it should have every right that someone with a religious objection would have. It seems almost absurd that this is even something that needs to be said.
Thankfully, one senator, Philip Baruth, agreed with me in voting for the measure. Baruth, a Democrat, said that he objected to treating philosophical objections any differently than religious ones.
Baruth stated he was “troubled though, that we would remove philosophical conviction as something that would be allowed to those who don’t profess an organized religion. It seems to me we’re moving down a path where we’re creating… a set of rights for people of professed, organized religion, and taking them away from people who have deeply held convictions but who do not in fact worship this or that higher being.”
Baruth’s point is, in my opinion, very important and indeed it is quite troubling that the law would treat a philosophical position any different from a religious one.
Senator Kevil Mullin, a Republican and chief sponsor of the Senate bill in Vermont, said that if they tried to remove both the religious exemption and the philosophical exemption it would most likely be challenged in court and struck down.
Mullin said that he thinks many of the people who have taken the philosophical exemption in the past will not request a religious one if this becomes law.
“In other states, immunization rates have gone up when they did away with the philosophical exemption,” he said.
It is impossible to accurately say why this is; it could be due to those who took a philosophical exemption not wanting to lie in requesting a religious one, not knowing that they could still get their child exempted at all or potentially anything at all.
Currently, 20 states in America allow a philosophical exemption from immunization requirements and every state except Mississippi and West Virginia allow a religious exemption.
The state Health Department uses federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendations to construct their list of required and recommended vaccines for children to enter public schools or even licensed child care facilities.
Just to enter Kindergarten, children are required to receive three doses of hepatitis B vaccine, four doses of the diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis vaccine, three doses of polio vaccine, three of the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine and one chicken pox vaccine as well.
When the Vermont Senate’s Health and Welfare Committee met to take testimony on the legislation, a large group of parents attended and raised many concerns about the move to end the philosophical exemption. Some of the parents brought up the potential adverse reactions, sometimes fatal ones, which occur in a small percentage of those who receive the vaccines.
Yet the state Health Commissioner Dr. Harry Chen and others testified that the scientific evidence of the benefits of vaccines outweighed the potentially fatal risks.
Mullin utilized some rhetoric which, in my opinion, is deplorably manipulative in pushing for the legislation.
“Many of us may not be in this chamber today if our parents and grandparents, great-grandparents had taken such a lenient approach to vaccinations and refused to be vaccinated for diseases like smallpox, polio and tuberculosis,” Mullins said.
“We’re going to protect our kids in our public schools and early childhood facilities so they are not exposed to dangerous disease and illness,” Mullins said in an attempt to tug on the heart strings of legislators and leverage fear to his advantage.
It remains to be seen if this will pass through the House and if more states will continue to eradicate the rights of parents to make the ultimate call on their child’s health, and if there will be a continued lopsided treatment of philosophical values and religious ones.
Like I said, regardless of if you think vaccines are a godsend or a health hazard, this is the United States where we are supposed to respect the individual’s right to choose and I would like to preserve that right in every possible aspect of our lives.

US to Attempt Overthrow of Putin Government

As predicted - the Western media and US State Department-funded "opposition" inside Russia have called Vladimir Putin's landslide victory a "fraud." It was stated on Thursday March 1, that the Western media had "already determined how Russia's elections will unfold, creating the pretext in the minds of impressionable viewers to justify the unrest the US is undoubtedly planning."

Clearly a man sure to win is not going to taint his victory by needlessly cheating. Conversely, in Thailand, when convicted criminal Thaksin Shinawatra ran for office by proxy through his own sister, and squeaked by with a tenuous victory, the Western media hailed it as a triumph of democracy. The difference? Thaksin Shinawatra of Thailand works for Wall Street, Vladimir Putin does not.

This is similar to what took place during the 2009 Iranian elections where US State Department-funded opposition groups also claimed the elections were "illegitimate" and took to the streets in an attempt to reverse the democratic process through ochlocratic means. In Egypt, directly before the US-engineered Arab Spring, elections that predictably overlooked the suspicious Mohamed ElBaradei were likewise called "fraudulent" and used as the rhetorical justification to execute destabilization long-planned by the US State Department since 2008.

Proceeding Thailand's July, 2011 elections, as explained in ""Stolen Elections" Battle Cry of the Color Revolution," Wall Street and London's operatives laid the groundwork to likewise call any result aside from their proxies' full installation to power "fraud," to then be used as impetus to justify street mobs, destabilization, and violence.

And already, before Sunday's elections, US State Department-funded Freedom House, through an article written by its "president" David Kramer, stated in Foreign Policy magazine:

"Even if the system delivers the required results, clear evidence of rigging may lead voters to reject the election as unfair and illegitimate. Moreover, the authorities' stifling of the Russian public's voice runs the risk of creating an even more combustible environment in the period after March 4. The balloting, whatever its outcome, is therefore unlikely to extinguish the rising desire for real change. Unless and until that change is permitted, Putin's continued pursuit of simulated democracy will fail to achieve even a simulation of stability."

Kramer's veiled threats of instability brought about by the opposition he, his Freedom House organization, and its parent organization, the National Endowment for Democracy (NED) have long been cultivating would then be repeated almost verbatim throughout the Western press on Sunday - also predictably. It was stated on March 1 that, "It is important to keep in mind Freedom House president David Kramer's words, knowing that both the National Endowment for Democracy and Freedom House are self-serving frauds, when listening to these very same talking points regurgitated by the Western media during the elections this coming Sunday."

The LA Times would feature an editorial by the Wall Street-funded American Enterprise Institute (AEI) titled, "Putin's Pyrrhic victory," which stated, "Putin's win "will be a Pyrrhic victory. Far from enhancing the Putin regime's legitimacy, the election will diminish it further in the eyes of a significant part of the Russian population."

The corporate-funded hit piece would go on to admit that the "revolution" clearly constituted a minority but maintained:

"...few, if any, regime changes, let alone revolutions, have been started by the majority. The majority has families to feed and a living to make. It is the younger, the urban, the better educated who have led successful modern revolutions. People who start them are getting uncensored news and opinions from the Internet and social media, not state-controlled television.And make no mistake about it: This is a young, middle-class revolt. "

This frightening stamp of approval for lawless ochlocratic "regime change" would then be followed by a comparison to the now admittedly fraudulent US-engineered "Arab Spring."

Joining the LA Times was a myriad of headlines regurgitating Freedom House president David Kramer's predetermined conclusions, with the Wall Street Journal reporting, "Putin Claims Election Win as Observers Claim Fraud," Fox News reporting, "Putin claims victory in Russia's presidential election amid allegations of violations in election," Reuters reporting, "Vladimir Putin 'elected Russian president', opponents allege fraud," and the London Guardian reporting, "Vladimir Putin's critics cry foul over alleged voter fraud in Russian election."

Each report mentions either US-funded fraud Alexey Navalny or US-funded "independent election monitor" GOLOS, or both.

Alexey Navalny is fully subsidized by the US State Department through the National Endowment of Democracy (NED). And while Alexey Navalny is renowned for "exposing corruption," at least when profitable, those researching his background begin unraveling his own insidious, compromised agenda. Alexey Navalny was a Yale World Fellow, and in his profile it states:

"Navalny spearheads legal challenges on behalf of minority shareholders in large Russian companies, including Gazprom, Bank VTB, Sberbank, Rosneft, Transneft, and Surgutneftegaz, through the Union of Minority Shareholders. He has successfully forced companies to disclose more information to their shareholders and has sued individual managers at several major corporations for allegedly corrupt practices. Navalny is also co-founder of the Democratic Alternative movement and was vice-chairman of the Moscow branch of the political party YABLOKO. In 2010, he launched RosPil, a public project funded by unprecedented fundraising in Russia. In 2011, Navalny started RosYama, which combats fraud in the road construction sector."

The Democratic Alternative, also written DA!, is indeed a National Endowment for Democracy fund recipient, meaning that Alexey Navalny is an agent of US-funded sedition and willfully hiding it from his followers. The US State Department itself reveals this as they list "youth movements" operating in Russia:

"DA!: Mariya Gaydar, daughter of former Prime Minister Yegor Gaydar, leads DA! (Democratic Alternative). She is ardent in her promotion of democracy, but realistic about the obstacles she faces. Gaydar said that DA! is focused on non-partisan activities designed to raise political awareness. She has received funding from the National Endowment for Democracy, a fact she does not publicize for fear of appearing compromised by an American connection."

Alexey was involved directly in founding a movement funded by the US government and to this day has the very people who funded DA! defending him throughout Western media. The mention of co-founder Mariya Gaydar is also revealing, as she has long collaborated, and occasionally has been arrested with, Ilya Yashin, yet another leader of a NED-funded Russian "activist" opposition group.

GOLOS, also mentioned endlessly by the Western media, is directly listed on the US State Department-run National Endowment for Democracy (NED) website as a recipient of funding. A NED subsidiary, the International Republican Institute (IRI), chaired by Senator John McCain, openly desires the ousting of Russia's president Vladimir Putin while the US State Department itself is publicly accused by Moscow of trying to incite unrest across Russia. It is then difficult to fathom how GOLOS can claim to be an "independent" poll monitor when they are funded by a foreign nation actively seeking to manipulate Russia's political landscape. It is also difficult to then understand why any reputable journalist would cite GOLOS as a reliable source of information, when clearly they are compromised. Difficult to understand, that is, unless one accepts that the Western media is nothing more than paid-propagandist serving Wall Street and London interests.

The next step will be to fill the streets of Russia's cities with the NED-funded opposition's mobs of "young, educated urban youths," just as they did in Egypt. AEI's op-ed in the LA Times clearly states an intent to leverage a minority magnified through "social media" to enact "regime change." Whether Russia's security apparatus is capable of quickly and decisively dealing with this foreign-funded sedition, and how far Wall Street and London are willing to go are the only remaining variables that will determine the outcome of what was from the beginning the Wall Street-London "Arab Spring's" final destination.

Conclusion

By understanding this process by which the neo-imperialists of Wall Street and London manipulate both domestic and international opinion through a clearly compromised media and network of disingenuous, insidious NGOs and "pro-democracy opposition" movements, this geopolitical gambit can be exposed and balked.

The intended purpose of the US State Department is to maintain communications and formal relations with foreign countries - not project American hegemony around the globe. Meddling and subverting a sovereign nation is an act of war, and the potential conflict America's ruling elite threaten to trigger will be one paid for by the American people, not the corporate-fascists on Wall Street, or their proxies in Washington.

Study and understand how the US State Department has manipulated and destabilized nations from the Middle East, to Thailand, and now across Russia through foreign-funded NGOs like GOLOS, and treasonous opposition movements like those led by Alexey Navalny, Vladimir Ryzhkov, and Boris Nemtsov. Then spread the word. A well-informed population is inoculated from crass, demagogic and ultimately self-destructive manipulation by a degenerate and dangerous ruling elite.

The Empire's Thermonuclear War Option

As events play out in Washington, Moscow, Beijing, and London over the next 72 hours, and as our global mobilization against thermonuclear war intensifies, it is more vital than ever that there be a clear understanding of exactly why this planet is on the very brink of potential extinction. The real story has nothing to do with Iran, or nuclear enrichment, or Israel's fear of Iran's growing ballistic missile capabilities. The whole Israel game is a cover story for a far more dangerous British Empire game. Just consider the fact that virtually every sane, patriotic figure in Israel is dead-set against an attack on Iran—including President Shimon Peres. Prime Minister Netanyahu is nothing but a British agent in the Jabotinsky/Parvus mold, and he is just as much a tool of the British Empire, properly understood, as Barack Obama.

The real danger of global thermonuclear war comes from the fact that the present global monetarist system is doomed. The empire is the global monetarist system, and the British Monarchy plays a particular role within that global imperial system. The key question right now is whether that imperial system, represented by institutions like the post-Bretton Woods International Monetary Fund (IMF), can induce Russia and China to submit to imperial control, to the global monetarist system. If Russia and China capitulate to imperial control, then thermonuclear war is not necessary.

The British Empire is not contained within the United Kingdom. It is a true empire, a global system. Continental Western Europe has been destroyed—turned into a stateless state with no sovereignty left. The IMF has more control over continental Europe than anyone in Europe. This was demonstrated clearly in Brussels over the past 72 hours, as 25 European heads of state submitted to a Schachtian nightmare, dictated by the IMF and such agents as the European Central Bank's Mario Draghi.

The imperial system has declared that the era of the nation-state and national sovereignty is over. Tony Blair made the announcement in Chicago in 1999, when he declared, in the midst of the Kosovo war, that we have entered the post-Westphalian world. That post-Westphalian world means no more powerful nation-states, asserting actual sovereignty, can be tolerated anywhere on the planet, particularly in Eurasia. Russia and China are the big targets.

The imperial blackmail game is very simple: Russia and China capitulate, or there will be thermonuclear war. So long as Barack Obama remains in office as President of the United States, the global imperial game is rigged. Remove Obama from office, and the United States can break out of the vise-grip of the British monetarist system, return to a credit system, and once and for all, wipe out the imperial system.

What is going on in Syria right now, is the model for what will be unleashed against Russia and China both. Outside forces provoke violence, and once the violence gets going, the international apparatus is unleashed. London is operating through longstanding Russian assets, such as Berezovsky and Gorbachov. How will they respond to the anticipated first-round victory by Putin on Sunday? What is to be unleashed? Will the Brutish attempt again to give Putin the JFK and de Gaulle treatment by Permindex-type assassination efforts? Will the Brutish Empire decide that now is the moment to unleash general warfare? If that decision is made—and it could be made on Monday morning—war can be launched by surprise, by U.S. and British submarines armed with nuclear warheads. At the first detection of such a launch, both Russia and China will launch heavy bombardments of retaliatory nuclear strikes. There will be no leaks. There will be no early warnings. Just sudden death strikes and counter-strikes without notice.

If you understand history, you understand that there has been a continuity of this monetarist imperial system since before the Roman Empire. You had the Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire, the Venetian Empire, the Anglo-Dutch imperial system. The British are committed to saving the current monetarist imperial system. They have ruled on the basis of money power for centuries, and now that monetarist system is in jeopardy. Once the monetarist system is gone, and is replaced by a credit system, it will never return again. A sovereign credit system means true sovereignty.

The British assault on the American System of sovereign credit was unleashed with Andrew Jackson's takedown of the Second National Bank. That attack came from the most traitorous British agents in American history—Aaron Burr, the assassin of Alexander Hamilton, his law partner and successor Martin van Buren, their tool Andrew Jackson.

Now the international monetarist system, of which the British Empire and the City of London are the nominal repository, are on the edge of extinction. How they respond to events unfolding in the coming days will be crucial. How will they view the window of time between Putin's election as President of Russia and his inauguration? With the close Putin-Medvedev collaboration, that window of opportunity is limited, but not halted altogether.

It is on the basis of this situation, this set of issues, that the decision will be made: Is thermonuclear war the only option for saving the imperial IMF-centered system? This is the real issue, as opposed to the surface manifestations, why we are at risk of thermonuclear confrontation right now.

That is the message to be delivered this weekend, as we mobilize to prevent the extermination of the human race in a thermonuclear showdown that is all about the survival of mankind or the survival of empire. PHOENIX – An investigative “Cold Case Posse” launched six months ago by “America’s toughest sheriff” – Joe Arpaio of Arizona’s Maricopa County – has concluded there is probable cause that the document released by the White House last year as President Obama’s birth certificate is a computer-generated forgery.

The investigative team has asked Arpaio, who is at a news conference in Phoenix live-streamed by WND TV that began at 3 p.m. Eastern time, to elevate the investigation to a criminal probe that will make available the resources of his Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.

The posse says it has identified at least one person of interest in the alleged forgery of Obama’s birth certificate.

Arapaio, known for his strict enforcement of immigration laws, commissioned the investigative team after local citizens presented him with a petition expressing concern that Obama might not be eligible for Arizona’s presidential ballot.

In addition to the live-streaming, WND is making available to the public a report distributed to media today by Arpaio’s investigators.

The posse, comprised of former law enforcement officers and lawyers with law enforcement experience, has interviewed dozens of witnesses and examined hundreds of documents. It also has taken numerous sworn statements from witnesses around the world.

Mike Zullo, Arpaio’s lead investigator, said his team believes the Hawaii Department of Health has engaged in a systematic effort to hide from public inspection any original 1961 birth records it may have in its possession.

“Officers of the Hawaii Department of Health and various elected Hawaiian public officials may have intentionally obscured 1961 birth records and procedures to avoid having to release to public inspection and to the examination of court-authorized forensic examiners any original Obama 1961 birth records the Hawaii Department of Health may or may not have,” Zullo said.

The investigators say the evidence contained in the computer-generated PDF file released by the White House as well as important deficiencies in the Hawaii process of certifying the long-form birth certificate establish probable cause that a forgery has been committed.

The investigation was launched after 250 members of the Surprise, Ariz., Tea Party, presented a signed petition to Arpaio in August 2011 asking him to undertake the investigation.

The Tea Party members petitioned under the premise that if a forged birth certificate was used to place Barack Obama on the 2012 Arizona presidential ballot, their rights as Maricopa County voters could be compromised.

Arpaio believes a congressional investigation might be warranted and has asked that any information relevant to the investigation held by other law enforcement agencies be forwarded to his office.

The Cold Case Posse advised Arpaio that they believe forgers committed two crimes. First, they say it appears the White House fraudulently created a forgery that it characterized as an officially produced governmental birth record. Second, the White House fraudulently presented to the residents of Maricopa County and to the American public at large a forgery represented as “proof positive” of President Obama’s authentic 1961 Hawaii long-form birth certificate.

“A continuing investigation is needed to identify the identity of the person or persons involved in creating the alleged birth certificate forgery and to determine who, if anyone, in the White House or the state of Hawaii may have authorized the forgery,” Arpaio said.

Among the evidence released at the press conference are five videos – which can be seen at the end of this article – to demonstrate why the Obama long-form birth certificate is suspected to be a computer-generated forgery.

The videos consist of step-by-step computer demonstrations using a control document. They display the testing used by the investigators to examine various claims made by supporters of the April 27 document.

The investigators contend the videos illustrate their conclusion that the features and anomalies observed on the Obama long-form birth certificate were inconsistent with features produced when a paper document is scanned, even if the scan is enhanced by Optical Character Recognition, OCR, and optimized.

Additionally, the posse says, the videos demonstrate that the Hawaii Department of Health Registrar’s name stamp and the registrar’s date stamp were computer-generated images imported into an electronic document, as opposed to rubber stamp imprints inked by hand or machine onto a paper document.

“That we were able to cast reasonable suspicions on the authenticity of the registrar stamps was especially disturbing, since these stamp imprints are designed to provide government authentication to the document itself,” Zullo said, emphasizing that if the registrar stamps are forgeries, the document itself is likely a forgery.

The investigators also chronicled a series of allegedly inconsistent and misleading representations that various Hawaii government officials have made over the past five years regarding any original birth records held by the Hawaii Department of Health.

“As I said at the beginning of the investigation, the president can put all this to rest quite easily,” Arpaio said. “All he has to do is demand the Hawaii Department of Health release to the American public and to a panel of certified court-authorized forensic examiners all original 1961 paper, microfilm and computer birth records the Hawaii Department of Health has in its possession.”

Arpaio emphasized that the Hawaii Department of Health needs to provide, as part of the full disclosure, evidence regarding the chain of custody of all Obama birth records, including paper, microfilm and electronic records to eliminate the possibility that a forger or forgers may have tampered with the birth records.

The sheriff said the president should also authorize Honolulu’s Kapi’olani Hospital, the birth hospital listed on the Obama long-form birth certificate, to release any hospital patient records for Stanley Ann Dunham Obama, his mother, and for the newly born Barack Obama, to provide corroboration for the records held in the Hawaii Department of Health vault.

“Absent the authentic Hawaii Department of Health 1961 birth records for Barack Obama, there is no other credible proof supporting the idea or belief that President Barack Obama was born in Hawaii, as he and the White House have consistently asserted,” Zullo said.

“In fact, absent the authentication of Hawaii Department of Health 1961 birth records for Barack Obama, there is no other proof he was born anywhere within the United States.”

In addition, investigators say they have developed credible evidence that President Obama’s Selective Service card was a forgery, based on an examination of the postal date stamp on the document. Also, records of Immigration and Naturalization Service cards filled out by passengers arriving on international flights originating outside the United States in the month of August 1961, examined at the National Archives in Washington, D.C., are missing records for the week of President Obama’s birth.

Lisette Talate died the other day.  I remember a wiry, fiercely intelligent woman who masked her grief with a determination that was a presence. She was the embodiment of people's resistance to the war on democracy. I first glimpsed her in a 1950s Colonial Office film about the Chagos islanders, a tiny creole nation living midway between Africa and Asia in the Indian Ocean. The camera panned across thriving villages, a church, a school, a hospital, set in a phenomenon of natural beauty and peace. Lisette remembers the producer saying to her and her teenage friends, "Keep smiling girls!"
Sitting in her kitchen in Mauritius many years later, she said, "I didn't have to be told to smile. I was a happy child, because my roots were deep in the islands, my paradise.  My great-grandmother was born there; I made six children there. That's why they couldn't legally throw us out of our own homes; they had to terrify us into leaving or force us out. At first, they tried to starve us. The food ships stopped arriving [then] they spread rumours we would be bombed, then they turned on our dogs."
In the early 1960s, the Labour government of Harold Wilson secretly agreed to a demand from Washington that the Chagos archipelago, a British colony, be "swept" and "sanitised" of its 2,500 inhabitants so that a military base could be built on the principal island, Diego Garcia.  "They knew we were inseparable from our pets," said Lizette, "When the American soldiers arrived to build the base, they backed their big trucks against the brick shed where we prepared the coconuts; hundreds of our dogs had been rounded up and imprisoned there.  Then they gassed them through tubes from the trucks' exhausts. You could hear them crying."
Lisette and her family and hundreds of islanders were forced on to a rusting steamer bound for Mauritius, a distance of 2,500 miles. They were made to sleep in the hold on a cargo of fertiliser: bird shit.  The weather was rough; everyone was ill; two women miscarried. Dumped on the docks at Port Louis, Lizette's youngest children, Jollice, and Regis, died within a week of each other. "They died of sadness," she said. "They had heard all the talk and seen the horror of what had happened to the dogs. They knew they were leaving their home forever. The doctor in Mauritius said he could not treat sadness."
This act of mass kidnapping was carried out in high secrecy. In one official file, under the heading, "Maintaining the fiction", the Foreign Office legal adviser exhorts his colleagues to cover their actions by "re-classifying" the population as "floating" and to "make up the rules as we go along". Article 7 of the statute of the International Criminal Court says the "deportation or forcible transfer of population" is a crime against humanity. That Britain had committed such a crime -- in exchange for a $14million discount off an American Polaris nuclear submarine - was not on the agenda of a group of British "defence" correspondents flown to the Chagos by the Ministry of Defence when the US base was completed. "There is nothing in our files," said a ministry official, "about inhabitants or an evacuation."
Today, Diego Garcia is crucial to America's and Britain's war on democracy. The heaviest bombing of Iraq and Afghanistan was launched from its vast airstrips, beyond which the islanders' abandoned cemetery and church stand like archaeological ruins. The terraced garden where Lisette laughed for the camera is now a fortress housing the "bunker-busting" bombs carried by bat-shaped B-2 aircraft to targets in two continents; an attack on Iran will start here. As if to complete the emblem of rampant, criminal power, the CIA added a Guantanamo-style prison for its "rendition" victims and called it Camp Justice. 
What was done to Lisette's paradise has an urgent and universal meaning, for it represents the violent, ruthless nature of a whole system behind its democratic facade, and the scale of our own indoctrination to its messianic assumptions, described by Harold Pinter as a "brilliant, even witty, highly successful act of hypnosis." Longer and bloodier than any war since 1945, waged with demonic weapons and a gangsterism dressed as economic policy and sometimes known as globalisation, the war on democracy is unmentionable in western elite circles. As Pinter wrote, "it never happened even while it was happening". Last July, American historian William Blum published his "updated summary of the record of US foreign policy". Since the Second World War, the US has:
- Attempted to overthrow more than 50 governments, most of them democratically-elected.
- Attempted to suppress a populist or national movement in 20 countries.
- Grossly interfered in democratic elections in at least 30 countries.
- Dropped bombs on the people of more than 30 countries.
- Attempted to assassinate more than 50 foreign leaders.
In total, the United States has carried out one or more of these actions in 69 countries. In almost all cases, Britain has been a collaborator. The "enemy" changes in name - from communism to Islamism -- but mostly it is the rise of democracy independent of western power or a society occupying strategically useful territory, deemed expendable, like the Chagos Islands.
The sheer scale of suffering, let alone criminality, is little known in the west, despite the presence of the world's most advanced communications, nominally freest journalism and most admired academy.  That the most numerous victims of terrorism - western terrorism - are Muslims is unsayable, if it is known. That half a million Iraqi infants died in the 1990s as a result of the embargo imposed by Britain and America is of no interest. That extreme jihadism, which led to 9/11, was nurtured as a weapon of western policy ("Operation Cyclone") is known to specialists but otherwise suppressed.
While popular culture in Britain and America immerses the Second World War in an ethical bath for the victors, the holocausts arising from Anglo-American dominance of resource-rich regions are consigned to oblivion. Under the Indonesian tyrant Suharto, anointed "our man" by Thatcher, more than a million people were slaughtered. Described by the CIA as "the worst mass murder of the second half of the 20th century", the estimate does not include a third of the population of East Timor who were starved or murdered with western connivance, British fighter-bombers and machine guns.
These true stories are told in declassified files in the Public Record Office, yet represent an entire dimension of politics and the exercise of power excluded from public consideration. This has been achieved by a regime of un-coercive information control, from the evangelical mantra of consumer advertising to sound-bites on BBC news and now the ephemera of social media.
It is as if writers as watchdogs are extinct, or in thrall to a sociopathic zeitgeist, convinced they are too clever to be duped. Witness the stampede of sycophants eager to deify Christopher Hitchens, a war lover who longed to be allowed to justify the crimes of rapacious power. "For almost the first time in two centuries", wrote Terry Eagleton, "there is no eminent British poet, playwright or novelist prepared to question the foundations of the western way of life". No Orwell warns that we do not need to live in a totalitarian society to be corrupted by totalitarianism. No Shelley speaks for the poor, no Blake proffers a vision, no Wilde reminds us that "disobedience, in the eyes of anyone who has read history, is man's original virtue". And grievously no Pinter rages at the war machine, as in American Football:

Into shards of fucking dust go all the lives blown there by Barack Obama, the Hopey Changey of western violence. Whenever one of Obama's drones wipes out an entire family in a faraway tribal region of Pakistan, or Somalia, or Yemen, the American controllers in front of their computer-game screens type in "Bugsplat". Obama likes drones and has joked about them with journalists. One of his first actions as president was to order a wave of Predator drone attacks on Pakistan that killed 74 people. He has since killed thousands, mostly civilians; drones fire Hellfire missiles that suck the air out of the lungs of children and leave body parts festooned across scrubland.
Remember the tear-stained headlines when Brand Obama was elected: "momentous, spine-tingling": the Guardian. "The American future," wrote Simon Schama, "is all vision, numinous, unformed, light-headed ..."  The San Francisco Chronicle's columnist saw a spiritual "lightworker [who can] usher in a new way of being on the planet". Beyond the drivel, as the great whistleblower Daniel Ellsberg had predicted, a military coup was taking place in Washington, and Obama was their man. Having seduced the anti-war movement into virtual silence, he has given America's corrupt military officer class unprecedented powers of state and engagement. These include the prospect of wars in Africa and opportunities for provocations against China, America's largest creditor and new "enemy" in Asia.  Under Obama, the old source of official paranoia Russia, has been encircled with ballistic missiles and the Russian opposition infiltrated. Military and CIA assassination teams have been assigned to 120 countries; long planned attacks on Syria and Iran beckon a world war. Israel, the exemplar of US violence and lawlessness by proxy, has just received its annual pocket money of $3bn together with Obama's permission to steal more Palestinian land.
Obama's most "historic" achievement is to bring the war on democracy home to America. On New Year's Eve, he signed the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a law that grants the Pentagon the legal right to kidnap both foreigners and US citizens and indefinitely detain, interrogate and torture, or even kill them. They need only "associate" with those "belligerent" to the United States.  There will be no protection of law, no trial, no legal representation. This is the first explicit legislation to abolish habeus corpus (the right to due process of law) and effectively repeal the Bill of Rights of 1789. 
On 5 January, in an extraordinary speech at the Pentagon, Obama said the military would not only be ready to "secure territory and populations" overseas but to fight in the "homeland" and provide "support to the civil authorities". In other words, US troops will be deployed on the streets of American cities when the inevitable civil unrest takes hold. 
America is now a land of epidemic poverty and barbaric prisons: the consequence of a "market" extremism which, under Obama, has prompted the transfer of $14 trillion in public money to criminal enterprises in Wall Street. The victims are mostly young jobless, homeless, incarcerated African-Americans, betrayed by the first black president. The historic corollary of a perpetual war state, this is not fascism, not yet, but neither is it democracy in any recognisable form, regardless of the placebo politics that will consume the news until November. The presidential campaign, says the Washington Post, will "feature a clash of philosophies rooted in distinctly different views of the economy". This is patently false. The circumscribed task of journalism on both sides of the Atlantic is to create the pretence of political choice where there is none.
The same shadow is across Britain and much of Europe where  social democracy, an article of faith two generations ago, has fallen to the central bank dictators. In David Cameron's "big society", the theft of 84bn pounds in jobs and services even exceeds the amount of tax "legally" avoid by piratical corporations. Blame rests not with the far right, but a cowardly liberal political culture that has allowed this to happen, which, wrote Hywel Williams in the wake of the attacks on 9/11, "can itself be a form of self righteous fanaticism". Tony Blair is one such fanatic. In its managerial indifference to the freedoms that it claims to hold dear, bourgeois Blairite Britain has created a surveillance state with 3,000 new criminal offences and laws: more than for the whole of the previous century. The police clearly believe they have an impunity to kill.  At the demand of the CIA, cases like that of Binyam Mohamed, an innocent British resident tortured and then held for five years in Guantanamo Bay, will be dealt with in secret courts in Britain "in order to protect the intelligence agencies" - the torturers.
This invisible state allowed the Blair government to fight the Chagos islanders as they rose from their despair in exile and demanded justice in the streets of Port Louis and London.  "Only when you take direct action, face to face, even break laws, are you ever noticed," said Lisette. "And the smaller you are, the greater your example to others." Such an eloquent answer to those who still ask, "What can I do?"
I last saw Lisette's tiny figure standing in driving rain alongside her comrades outside the Houses of Parliament. What struck me was the enduring courage of their resistance. It is this refusal to give up that rotten power fears, above all, knowing it is the seed beneath the snow.
